Toledo, OH - The future of Cunningham Motorsports is 18-year-old Taylor Malsam. The Seattle, Washington native and West coast sprint car racer will compete for the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship in the Cunningham Motorsports No. 4 Dodge Development Team Charger. But before making a charge for the '08 title, Malsam is headed to Toledo Speedway for ARCA Championship Weekend. He is scheduled to drive the No. 4 Dodge in the October 14th Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire.
"We are proud to have produced some excellent race car drivers, and we certainly believe that Tayler is going to be a fantastic driver and compete for the championship," said Cunningham Motorsports' Kerry Scherer. "His is a smart and talented young man and we look forward to having him in the 4 car next season."
Malsam has been impressive in 2007 in both Sprint cars and Late Models on the West coast, posting excellent results in his No. 26 Rudeen Racing/FIRE-DOWN Graphics Sprint Car, as well as his No. 26 Late Model at Irwindale Speedway.
This week's Toledo Speedway ARCA RE/MAX Series test, combined with a recent test at Peach State Speedway in Georgia and an aggressive racing schedule on the West coast are serving as training for Malsam, as he prepares to make both his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut and a run at the 2008 championship.
